Dating back to the Phoenicians and later perfected by the Romans, the nearby Marsala Salt Pans are famous throughout the world for their colors and the sunset in a thousand shades of pink, given by the large shallow pools where the sea water is conducted through a system of canals and left to evaporate under the sun, giving life to pure and precious salt crystals.

The centuries-old park that surrounds the hotel reveals its ancient and noble origins: the resort was developed, in fact, close to the nineteenth-century villa (baglio in Sicilian) Fontanasalsa, which was the summer residence of the important Counts Burgio delle Gazzere.
