In the Val di Noto, in an enchanted corner of Sicily, the Planeta family, winemakers for 5 centuries, have given life to a hospitality project where the passion for wine merges with local tradition, for a special stay with an ancient soul.

The history of the Planeta family, spanning 17 generations, has always been made of agriculture and good living deeply linked to Sicilian culture, of which it has always been an ambassador in the world through its famous wines, from Chardonnay to Cometa.

Planeta arrived in the Val di Noto in 1998, not surprisingly in the district that has always been known by the name of Buonivini, driven by the desire to fully exploit the enological potential of this land, the cradle of Nero d’Avola. Here they give birth to the homonymous winery, completed in 2003 and characterized by an “invisible” profile that blends perfectly with the landscape made of rolling hills, fields of olive trees and vineyards that extend to the horizon.

The exposure of the rolling hills of Buonivini, the white and calcareous lands, the influence that rises from the crossing of the two seas, create the best conditions for making its vines grow to the fullest and give life to great wines.

The “Case Sparse” project is today the heart of the experiential hospitality of the Buonivini Estate. Small rural residences from the early 1900s, located around the old millstone in the center of the vineyard, have been restored respecting the local architecture thanks to the collaboration with the designer Costanza Algranti. She has splendidly recomposed and transformed the pre-existing structures and disused materials into objects new, functional and comfortable, capable of containing and narrating a story.

An ideal place for travelers who love the most authentic Baroque Sicilian art and traditions linked to the land, the world of Case Sparse has been further enriched with the artistic project commissioned by Francesca Planeta which has embellished the small houses immersed in the tranquility of the countryside Sicilian with works by local and international artists.

The Secret

The book “Journey to Sicily” by the Palermitan photographer Shobha Battaglia, published by Planeta, was born from an artistic residency project at Case Sparse, a wonderful testimony of the truest and most profound Sicily.
