With a breathtaking view of Ragusa Ibla, Dimora Bonafede is a former baroque church transformed into a boutique hotel where you can enjoy, among a panoramic jacuzzi, works of art and local products, one of the most exciting views of the beautiful city, a UNESCO heritage site.
A unique view is that, after having crossed the suggestive streets of Ragusa Ibla, reveals itself before us crossing the threshold of Dimora Bonafede.
The residence, born in a baroque deconsecrated church and former house of Nazareno Bonafede, son of the poet Giuseppe Bonafede, has recently been renovated with the dream, largely realized, of making it a compendium of Sicilian arts tout court.
Choosing Dimora Bonafede means immersing yourself in the wonders of a land rich in history, culture and tradition.
(Francesca Blanco, hotel manager)
Its restoration was truly precious both in the details and in the artisans who worked on it. It is enough to mention the floor made with 5 cm wooden planks worked by hand, as was done in the noble palaces of the past, or the furniture designed to measure by local craftsmen with native materials and many references to ancient art and nature.
An attention to style, but also to comfort, emphasized in every aspect of the stay: from the designer bathrooms with gold-plated taps to the king-size beds and the well-stocked courtesy kit.
There are three rooms, including a stunning suite boasting a panoramic terrace with a heated hydromassage jacuzzi that allows ozone therapy and chromotherapy, and a designer shower, also with a view of the old city.
The owners’ love for Ragusa Ibla has led them to embrace in Dimora Bonafede not only the Iblean literary arts but also the visual and food and wine ones, making the hotel a true art gallery of the excellences of the area.
Each room is, in fact, decorated with the colorful canvases of the painter R. Catania, which can be purchased as well as all the art objects of the Residence, and in the spacious kitchen guests have many local products to choose from, such as a large wine cellar where you can also choose a bottle of wine to enjoy as an aperitif on the private terraces.
Breakfast, based on the best local products, is served in the room to enjoy the wonderful view in complete privacy.
A unique place from which to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the Sicilian Baroque UNESCO.
The Secret
Ibla owes its beauty to a tragic event: the earthquake that destroyed much of the Val di Noto in 1693. Ragusa was subsequently completely rebuilt and divided into two parts: Ragusa Superiore, the modern nucleus, and Ragusa Ibla, which is part, together with Caltagirone, Militello Val di Catania, Catania, Modica, Noto, Palazzolo, and Scicli, of the 8 serial site cities included by UNESCO in the list of World Heritage Sites in 2002.
